Shubman Gill's rise in international cricket has been phenomenal. The Indian opener is on a century-making spree, slamming his fifth ton of 2023 in under three months.

The 23-year-old scored a fluent 128 against Australia in the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in Ahmedabad after a failure in Indore.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has praised Gill for his form lately and said the batter has become a permanent member of Team India.

Gill has already registered a hundred in all three formats and is the highest century-getter (6) in international cricket post-September 2022; ahead of Virat Kohli (5) and Harry Brook (4).

Speaking with RevSportz, the former BCCI President also congratulated India on making it through to their second successive ICC WTC Final.

Here's what Dada said

"He has been brilliant in the last six-seven months. What else does he need to do? He’s a permanent player now."

Ganguly also spoke at great length about Axar Patel, who shone in the BGT 2023 with his bat, and explained the all-rounder's importance to the team along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

"You also have to speak about Axar Patel. He quietly does a good job lower down the order with the bat. Whenever he gets to bowl, he bowls well. That’s India’s strength, having Jadeja, Ashwin and Axar,"

All three, Gill, Patel, and Jadeja will be in action tomorrow when both India and Australia take on each other in the first ODI at Wankhede.
