Mumbai Indians continued their unbeaten march in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2023 as they beat the in-form Delhi Capitals by eight wickets last evening. Once again, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side displayed their bowling prowess, bundling out their opponents in under 20 overs.
Uncapped Saika Ishaque rose to the occasion and bamboozled the Capitals' line-up, claiming three wickets to attain the top spot on the bowling list. England pacer Isabelle Wong, too, chipped in with three wickets to bring about Delhi's downfall.
Speaking to the Mumbai Indians website, Wong hailed Mumbai's diverse bowling unit, which she believes is their strength.
Here's what Wong said
"We have worked pretty hard as a group in training. We have been working out our plans and making the most of the kind of squad we have. We have got a diverse bowling attack. We have left-arm spinners, leg spinners, off-spinners, and different varieties of seam bowlers.
Wong also praised the tracks on offer at both venues, which have been conducive to bowlers.
"We cover all our bases. We have the right bowlers bowling at the right batters. Harman has been fantastic in pulling the strings. It is nice that everyone has chipped in."
Ishaque (9), Hayley Matthews (6), Wong (4), and Amelia Kerr (4) have been the standout bowlers for the Mumbai-based franchise so far. Matthews has also performed with the bat, scoring 156 runs.
Mumbai Indians will take on UP Warriorz in their fourth match on Sunday.
