Harmanpreet Kaur led Mumbai Indians soared to yet another win the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on Monday. They defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore at Brabourne Stadium by 9 wickets. Mandhana and Co. faced yet another crushing defeat after scoring a match total of mere 155 runs, failing to survive the full 20 overs. MI’s top-order batter, Hayley Matthew’s top performance both with the bat and ball assured team the top spot at the table, after two back to back wins.

After the match Captain Harmanpreet lauded her teams efforts and appreciated how the team backed themselves to chase down the target set.

In the post match interview she said:"I think batting was the same. We bowled better in the first game than today, but we did well to restrict them to a small score. We just backed ourselves to chase."

Mumbai Indians and their bowlers confined RCB to a low total, making it an effortless win for the team. Hayley Matthews helped the team by taking 3 crucial wickets and scoring 77* runs off just 38 balls.

Harmanpreet continued by expressing delight that everyone in the MI camp was having fun during the Women's Premier League's maiden season.

“Everyone in the team are just happy to do it their way and they're enjoying themselves. It happens in T20s (on the slower over-rate), you need to give that extra minute to the bowlers,” she exclaimed.

Matthews on her exceptional performance was announced as the player of the match. She praised Harmanpreet Kaur’s commendable captaincy and how well she has been leading the entire Mumbai Indians contingent.

“There wasn't much difference, was able to bat a bit longer today, the freedom in this MI team has given me plenty of confidence. They're going well at the moment, watching the ball nicely and the ball is coming on nicely. They did put me under pressure in the 1st over, but it was nice to come back well. We've so many match-winners in the team and Harman is leading us well (sic),” Matthews said.

Mumbai Indians will next be seen playing against Delhi Capitals on March 9 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
