Epic scenes unfolded during the 68th fixture of the 2023 IPL edition as Lucknow Super Giants LSG clinched a narrow victory in a tense finish to book their berth in the playoffs. There were joys of ecstasy on one side and on the other, a sinking feeling for the Knight Riders as they suffered an agonizing defeat on their home turf which saw them crash out of this year's IPL tournament. 

Amidst Kohli chant and Rinku's looming threat,  the visiting side was really under the pump. With 22 runs off the penultimate over from Naveen Ul Haq, the crowd started going wild and the situation at the centre started turning more tense with each passing minute. Yash Thakur emerged as a the hero for LSG as he was able to hold his nerve and fend off the Rinku aggression by bowling a very tight over despite being hit for a few big shots. 

Rinku Singh's dazzling fireworks with the bat ensured that KKR stay in the hunt till the very last ball of the match. The 25-year-old gave it his all and propelled Knight Riders from a difficult position of 136-7 to 175/7 in the space of 12 deliveries. 

It was certainly bad luck for Rinku Singh but certainly not for Gautam Gambhir who was jubilant after LSG sealed their playoff spot in emphatic fashion. He immediately broke into an intense celebration and was seen banking the table repeatedly before hugging one of his LSG teammates.

The infamous spat between Kohli and Gambhir is still managing to make headlines even to this date as the war of words does not seem to die down. The home crowd was well away of the heated argument between the two and broke into "Kohli" chant to get under Gambhir's skin. 

Despite the win, LSG failed to dethrone CSK in terms of their net run rate meaning that the men in yellow will face GT in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 while LSG will await the results on the final league day to know their opponents for the Eliminator.
