India's premium superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been at the helm of things for the past decade. The duo have been actively involved in leading the side at the major ICC tournaments with their spectacular performances.

With years passing by, fitness has always been a concern with senior players especially skipper Rohit Sharma who was believed to be carrying several injuries over time.

Now, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has raised a point regarding the future of ace players. Jaffer thinks that Kohli's fitness is the main reason why he can withstand pressure on the body and expects him to continue doing so atleast till the next year's T20 World Cup scheduled in West Indies and the USA.

However, he thinks totally differently in the case of Sharma whom he expects to call it quits from the format before 2024.

"Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were rested seeing the bigger picture, with the Tests against Australia coming up, then there's IPL and then the ODI World Cup. India can qualify for the World Test Championship final. And rightly so,"

Wasim mentioned that the youngsters are lined up and are capable of replacing him as the transition could happen anytime soon.

"Looking at the future, this game is for youngsters. I don't see Rohit Sharma playing in the next T20 World Cup, from a personal perspective. Virat Kohli may play, but Rohit Sharma definitely won't play the next edition. He's already 36 I think."

Nonetheless, Rohit and Kohli are all set to play for India against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy beginning on 9th February.
