In a tense final where Ashton Turner-led Perth Scorchers and Jimmy Peirson's Brisbane Heat fought hard where the former lifted the Big Bash League title for record fifth time.

In the final over requiring 10 for victory, Scorchers raced home with four balls to spare as the game saw some outstanding moments with both sides giving some tough fight to each other.

While one team won, the other had to lose and in this case, it was Heat whose skipper Peirson expressed his disappointment and along with that, hoped for a better outcome when they return next year.

The right-hander was pleased to see crowd coming out in numbers as the attendance touched 50,000. Further, he believes that all this is a learning curve for him and his side as they all have played well to reach the final stages of this long tournament.

"Firstly, thanks to the crowd for coming out. 50 thousand people is just amazing. Congratulations to the Scorchers. You have been the best team this season and congrats for the win boys. We have come a long way this time. There were plenty of ups and downs. Lost of positives and plenty of learnings. Well done to everyone and we will go again next year."

Scorchers chased down the score of 176 with help of their leader Turner who thumped a 32-ball 53, playing a defining knock with Cooper Connolly going big during final stages.
