Starting next month, India will take on Australia in a challenging four-Test series to continue their claim over the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. However, it might now be all that easy for Rohit Sharma and Co. given the form Australians have been in recently.

Wins in the series will be decided by which team bats better and longer, and for India, the form of Virat Kohli remains paramount. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said that Kohli needs to improve in Test cricket as well, after showing good form in white-ball cricket.

Kohli managed just 45 runs in the 2-Test tour of Bangladesh, where his problems against left-arm spinners were quite telling.

Speaking to Sports Tak, the former BCCI President is expecting the series to be a cracker of a contest nonetheless.

Here's what DADA said

"Yes, absolutely. He has batted really well – against Sri Lanka, against Bangladesh. He will have to improve in Test cricket because India depends on him and a very crucial series against Australia is approaching which I believe will be a cracker of a contest. I expect it to be very competitive. Both are extremely good teams and it's quite possible that these two teams go on to play the World Test Championship final."

The 34-year-old has been rested for the T20I series against New Zealand. The first Test gets underway from February 9 at Nagpur.
