Umesh Yadav will spearhead bowling against Bangladesh, says Paras Mhambrey

The first Test between Bangladesh and India is about to get rolled. After the visitors lost the ODI series, the focus has shifted to the longest format. Interestingly, India failed to win the one-off Test series in Bangladesh the last time around.

However, on this tour, the Indian side has been already bruised with injuries. Captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the first Test; while key bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja will be missing the entire Test series.

The already wounded Indian line-up will be led by KL Rahul at Chattogram, while the onus of bowling will be on Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj

While talking in the pre-match press conference, the bowling coach Paras Mhambrey termed the Vidarbha pacer as the "spearhead of the Indian bowling".

“Umesh Yadav becomes a spearhead for us now. He has a lot of experience with him going into the Test match. Also happy with the way Siraj has delivered in Test cricket. He has won Test matches for us," said Mhambrey.

The bowling, however, didn't pour any light on India's bowling lineup; but told one thing they will be playing five bowlers in Chattogram.

"We had seen at the wicket yesterday and it looked a good wicket, a flat wicket. So from the bowling perspective, we know that we need to put in a lot of effort to take 20 wickets. We'll see the wicket and decide whether to play three seamers here, if there will be any help for them, or if this a three-spinner wicket," the 50-year-old coach concluded.
