LPL 2022-23: Shoaib Malik achieves unique T20 feat; second after Chris Gayle

Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik achieved a unique T20 feat during his outing against Colombo Stars playing for the Jaffna Kings franchise in the Lanka Premier League 2022 last evening. Malik during his knock of unbeaten 35*, went past 12,000 T20 runs, becoming only the second player to this tally after West Indies' Chris Gayle

Malik is the first Asian player to this landmark number, requiring just eight runs before the match. So far in LPL 2022, Malik has amassed 125 runs in six encounters at an average of 41.66.

Overall, the 40-year-old has scored 12,027 runs in 486 T20s at an average of 36.44 with 73 half-centuries. Gayle leads the T20 run-chart with 14,562 runs from 463 matches, which include 22 hundred and 88 fifties.

Kieron Pollard, Virat Kohli, and David Warner complete the top five list.
