In a recent video that is going viral, former head coach Ravi Shastri shared a heartfelt incident about Virat Kohli’s emotional connection with his wife, Anushka Sharma. In a recent discussion on Fox Cricket, Ravi Shastri shared a touching moment from the 2015 Australian tour.

Ravi Shastri Talks About Virat Kohl's Special Request

Virat Kohli, who was struggling with form earlier against England in 2015, was determined to make his mark in India's tour of Australia. In that tour Ravi Shastri, then head coach, recalled a conversation in which the star batter approached him with a request- That whether he could bring his then, girlfriend, Anushka Sharma, join him on the tour?

It is important to note that, at the time, BCCI had a policy that only allowed players' spouses to accompany them on overseas tours. That clearly meant that Virat Kohli's request was unusual and would not be accepted, as he and Anushka were not married at that point.

However Virat Kohli's request was granted, and the presence of Anushka on the tour seemed to have an immediate impact on his performance. In the highly anticipated Boxing Day Test at the MCG, Kohli played an exceptional knock of 169 runs.

During his knock, after he completed his century he blew flying kisses to wife, Anushka Sharma in the stands. After that this gesture from him became a symbol of his emotional connection between the couple.

Virat Kohli's Special Gesture In Perth Test

Fast forward to the recently concluded Test series between India and Australia. In the opening Test at Perth, Virat Kohli ended a long, difficult wait for a Test century. His patient 100-run knock not only brought up his 30th Test century but also set a new record for the most Test centuries by an Indian in Australia. With this century, Kohli surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of six centuries on Australian soil. Once again, Kohli’s gesture of blowing flying kisses towards Anushka in the stands was seen.
