Batting great Sachin Tendulkar, while celebrating his 50th birthday, gave an insight on high-octane India-Pakistan matches.

The last time these two Asian giants were involved in a bilateral series was way back in 2012. Owing to political tensions between the two countries, both India and Pakistan have only been facing each other in either limited-overs ICC tournaments or Asia Cup events.

Tendulkar, who notched up several memorable innings for India against Pakistan, recently spoke about the intensity of such matches and how even players from both sides get nervous in crunch situations.

Sachin Tendulkar says players get sore throat in IND-PAK games

As evidenced over the years, Indian and Pakistani players are often prone to some extreme reactions from their countrymen in defeat.

Sachin Tendulkar has been part of many great battles between the two sides, and led India’s batting charge on a winning note in multiple World Cup matches as well. Despite holding some of the biggest records in the game, the legendary batter said that he always felt the pressure while facing Pakistan.

He stated that he realised the same during India’s clash against Pakistan in 1992 World Cup in Australia. Tendulkar said:

“Not only spectators get sore throat but also players get it because there is so much energy on the field and also in the stands during India-Pakistan matches. The intensity is at a different level. We have had some unbelievable battles.”

Both India and Pakistan are set to continue their rivalry this year, with the upcoming ODI Asia Cup and World Cup tournaments. As of now, the ‘Men in Blue’ are yet to lose a single game to their arch-rivals in ODI World Cups.
