West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran wants the team to be accountable and responsible for their performance after facing a loss against Scotland on Monday (October 17).

Invited to bat first, Scotland openers George Munsey and Michael Jones (20) delivered a terrific start to the team with 50+ runs in the powerplay overs.

Calum Macleod (23) and skipper Richie Berrington (16) were helpful in the middle order, while Munsey (66*) stayed till the end to propel Scotland to post a score of 160.

Then, Kyle Mayers (20) and Evin Lewis (14) were impressive in the powerplay overs but were dismissed soon. Although Brandon King (17) started well, his dismissal opened the floodgates for the Scottish team as they picked wickets of Pooran, Rovman Powell and Shamarh Brooks.

Although Jason Holder provided a late blitz to contribute 38, the Caribbean team were bundled out for 118 and lost the game by 42 runs.

Following the loss, Pooran thinks it was a tough loss for them and thinks the team has to lift themselves and win the remaining games to qualify for Super 12.

From a personal perspective, the 27-year-old has been able to score only nine runs and has been the biggest weakness in the batting unit.

"Tough loss for us, obviously disappointed. We have to work hard and win two games. We have to take accountability and responsibility," said Pooran.

"We have to put this loss behind us and pick ourselves up. Sometimes, when you lose games and perform bad as players, you want the next game to come as fast as possible."

In their next must-win fixture, West Indies will clash with Zimbabwe on Wednesday (October 19). The high-flying African nation will be coming into this game with a confidence-boosting victory against Ireland in their first game.
