After the match between India and Bangladesh, the umpires were heavily accused of favouring India by many of the former cricketers from Pakistan and Bangladesh, recently by Shahid Afridi.

Afridi while pointing fingers at ICC and umpires said that that the match began very early as it should have been after the rain break because the governing wants the Indian side to make it to semi-finals.

Further, he was too critical of umpiring by mentioning that they were the same people who were officiating in the India-Pakistan match and will given the best umpires award.

“You saw the ground how wet it was. But ICC is inclined towards India. They want to ensure India reaches the semi-finals at any cost. The umpires were also the same who officiated India vs Pakistan & will get the best umpire awards.

“Given the amount of rain that happened, the game resumed immediately after the break. It is very evident that many things were involved, the ICC, India playing (the game), the pressure that comes with it, there are many factors involved."

The match went down to the wire with India triumphing in a crunch game by just 5 runs (DLS method), after which they look all set to make it through to the semi-finals. Their name game is against Zimbabwe on 6th November at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
