Shaheen Afridi, who went wicketless in Pakistan’s first two games of the T20 World Cup 2022, recorded decent figures of 1 for 19 against the Netherlands. The cricketer was included in Pakistan’s squad for the tournament after missing three months of action due to a knee injury.

Despite featuring in the starting XI, Afridi has claimed that he is still looking to regain full fitness.

Afridi said that it has not been easy for him to return to the side after missing three months of action due to injury. The speedster, however, claimed that he has not lost his pace.

The left-arm pacer stressed he is trying his best to gain full fitness, as it is difficult for anyone to put in full effort upon return.

Here's what Shaheen Afridi said

“It is not easy to come back from such an injury after three months. I am trying to give my 100%. I think my pace was similar earlier too. The average pace was around 135-140 kph; I am trying to get back to full fitness. Match fitness is different. When you come back after three months, it is difficult to put in full effort immediately.”

Pakistan, under Babar Azam, will now face South Africa in their next Group 2 game on November 3. The match is slated to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and marks as a must-win contest for the Men in Green.
