T20 World Cup 2022 | AUS vs NZ: Devon Conway breaks Kohli's record and equals Babar Azam

During the thrilling World Cup opener between New Zealand and Australia, Kiwi openers Devon Conway and Finn Allen lit the stage with fireworks as they crushed the Australian bowling lineup. 

Conway scored a phenomenal unbeaten 92 off of 58 deliveries. During the process the opening batter collected a shining milestone. He only took 36 deliveries to score his first ever T20 World Cup half-century. 


A milestone for days 

Conway became the 2nd fastest to 1000 runs in T20Is, the batter only reached this milestone in 26 innings, equalling the record with Babar Azam. Virat Kohli is 3rd in the list while Dawid Malan and Sabawoon Davizi are the fastest to reach the milestone (24 innings).


New Zealand clinch the first match 

After a fierce start, New Zealand posted 200 runs on the scoreboard at the loss of only 3 wickets. In the second innings Australia looked in crumbles as they kept losing wicket after wicket. New Zealand bowlers displayed immense skill with the ball as Trent Boult and Tim Southee picked 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Spinner Mitchell Santner also came in with the spin attack and took 3 wickets.
