AUS vs NZ: Devon Conway showers praise on Finn Allen for his whirlwind knock

New Zealand had a stunning start to their World Cup campaign, defeating their Trans-Tasman rivals Australia by 89 runs. Devon Conway starred with the bat for the Blackcaps, scoring a fabulous 58-ball 92*. His tremendous knock powered New Zealand to a massive 200, which they defended without breaking a sweat. 

After New Zealand's thumping win, Conway applauded Finn Allen for his fireworks that ensured a flying start for the team in the powerplay. Conway, who was awarded the player of the match, also explained how Allen complements him perfectly at the top with his explosive batting. 

Here's how Conway applauded Allen

"Credit has to go to Finn, how he started and got the momentum for us, pretty good performance from everyone. It (Finn's knock) was pretty special, I have seen him do it time and time again, young guy in international cricket but he's very explosive and fearless. The way Finn plays his game complements my game and I can just bat around him."

Conway revealed how focusing on just timing the ball worked wonders for him. The stylish southpaw also termed the victory memorable and expected the team to carry the momentum forward.

"The surface was very good to bat on and I thought timing the ball would give you more success. It means a lot to us, especially here at the SCG, to beat Australia on any occasion is big, we will take this momentum into the next game."
