On Tuesday, young pacer Shivam Mavi bagged four wickets for just 22 runs against Sri Lanka, becoming just the third Indian player to bag a four-for on T20I debut.

In this process, Mavi joined Barinder Sran and Pragyan Ojha, the only other players to achieve this feat for India in Men's T20Is.

Overall, Bangladesh's Elias Sunny holds the record for the best bowling figures (5/13) by a player from full-member nation on T20I debut.

Best bowling spells on T20I debut for India

  • Barinder Sran: 4/10 vs Zimbabwe
  • Pragyan Ojha: 4/21 vs Bangladesh
  • Shivam Mavi: 4/22 vs Sri Lanka
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 3/9 vs Pakistan
  • Axar Patel: 3/17 vs Zimbabwe

Courtesy of Mavi's four-wicket haul, the Hardik Pandya-led side registered a narrow two-run win over Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Mumbai.

He first picked up two wickets in the Powerplay, sending back Pathum Nissanka and Dhananjaya de Silva to provide India a flying start.

The right-arm pacer later returned to break a crucial 40-run partnership between Wanindu Hasranga and Dasun Shanaka, dismissing the former for 21 runs in the 15th over. Later, he dismissed Maheesh Theekshana in his final over to complete his four-wicket haul.

The teams will clash in the second fixture of the series in Pune on Thursday.
