Australia women's captain, Meg Lanning is set to make her long awaited return for after being named in the Victoria's WNCL squad for two 50-over games against New South Wales. The matches are scheduled to take place on January 5 and 7.

Lanning, who has been named as the Australian skipper for the upcoming series against Pakistan, will mark her return since taking an extended break following the Commonwealth Games in August last year.

Apart from Lanning, Georgia Wareham will also play her first domestic match since rupturing the ACL in her knee in October 2021.

Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, and Kim Garth have also been named in the Victoria squad to prepare for the limited-overs series against Pakistan women.

However, Lanning won't be captaining the Victoria side, instead, Nicole Faltum will lead the side for the rest of the WNCL campaign.

Pakistan women are all set to tour Australia for the white-ball series, with the ODI leg taking place first. The WNCL games provide the perfect opportunity for Lanning to get her confidence back.
