Punjab Kings (PBKS) always hire the best of talents ahead of an Indian Premier League season, but as luck would have it, they somehow find a way to the finish as the table dwellers. As the trend has been, despite the season with a bang, the franchise losses the plot in the latter half of the season. However, for this edition of the IPL, the team management has banked on the experienced Shikhar Dhawan to lead the Punjab side.

The newly-appointed PBKS skipper was asked about the curse on the franchise, but Dhawan responded most appropriately, saying he doesn't think of it that far and wants to take each game one by one.

"I just go day-by-day rather than thinking too much ahead and put too much pressure on myself. What has happened in the past has passed, you cannot change it but what you are doing in the present and how you are keeping the environment matters," Dhawan said during the coin flip.

Talking after the toss, Dhawan's Punjab have lost the toss against the Rajasthan Royals, and they have been asked to bat first in Guwahati.

While talking about bowling in the second innings, the PBKS leader stated that his bowlers had practised bowling with the wet ball to negate the dew factor.

"We guys have practiced bowling with dew when the camp was going on. We all know that dew comes. This is not the first time nor the last time. Of course I wanted to bowl first as well because of the dew factor and I feel already there's a bit of a dew. But its alright, we are used to it."

In the first-ever IPL fixture in Guwahati's Barsapara Stadium, both teams have opted for the same eleven that played in their respective season openers.
