Irfan Pathan praises Suryakumar Yadav for gutsy knock against South Africa
Suryakumar Yadav plays a shot against SA
Suryakumar Yadav smacked 68 against South Africa to guide India to a respectable 133 in their recent Group 2 clash. The cricketer top-scored in the innings, while none of the other batters managed to better a mere 15 scored by captain Rohit Sharma at the top.
While Yadav has played several impactful knocks for India since his T20I debut last year, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes his batting recital against South Africa is his best one so far.
Pathan took note of Yadav’s dexterity, and took to his Twitter handle to describe his innings as the best one of his T20I career.
Here's what Irfan Pathan tweeted
Suryakumar Yadav hammered a fighting 68 off just 40 balls. The cricketer arrived to the crease within the powerplay, after Team India had lost both their openers.
With the team’s total reduced to 49 for 5 at one stage, Yadav stretched the score to 133 and formed a crucial 52-run stand with Dinesh Karthik. Despite his fighting efforts, the Proteas took home the contest in the run-chase with a win in a thrilling final over.
Notably, the 32-year-old is also the highest run-getter in the world across all T20Is played out this year. The cricketer has piled up 935 runs at an average of 42.50 with eight half-centuries and a ton to his name.
