In what is the latest cricket controversy, Scotland's players declined to shake hands with Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane after the third match of the ongoing ICC's Cricket World Cup League 2 series on Friday, February 17 in Kirtipur.

In a video that has gone viral, Scotland's players, led by Richie Berrington, can be seen politely avoiding a handshake with Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane while shaking hands with all other players.

This incident adds to the previous controversy during the competition when Namibian players also refused to shake hands with Lamichhane.

According to a report, Scotland's players refrained from shaking hands with Sandeep Lamichhane because of a silent protest against the spinner's continued participation in the ICC's Cricket World Cup League 2 series.

Sandeep Lamichhane, who is currently out on bail after being accused of raping a minor woman in September last year, has been given the green light to participate in the ICC event. The decision came after the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) lifted its suspension on granting bail.

In response to the decision made by their men's team, the Scotland Cricket Board issued a statement expressing their full support:

As a governing body, and as a squad, Cricket Scotland stands firmly against all forms of abuse, which have no place in modern society. The player’s availability for these games is a matter for the Cricket Association of Nepal and the ICC to consider.”

"On the other hand, Cricket Namibia said that the board “strongly opposes all forms of gender-based violence, discrimination and abuse."
