Perth Scorchers kept their cool heads and won their fifth Big Bash League title on Saturday. In a see-saw battle against Brisbane Heat, Ashton Turner was the difference maker and his calculated innings of 53 steered the Scorchers past the winning line.

Chasing a tricky 176, Scorchers lost the plot in the middle overs, but Turner showed them the light and Brisbane Heat had no answer to his onslaught.

After the match, a jubilant Andrew Tye looked speechless, but had some nice things to say about the crowd, and the grand finale.

"Brisbane put on a decent score, but we did well to chase it down. What a game, what a crowd, amazing!!!! This is by far the best final for me. A couple of away finals I played, but this one is up there. The nerves settled for me at the beginning, and then I tried to concentrate on the line and length and doing the process right."

Talking about Tye's performance, he went for a plenty in his four overs, but did manage to achieve a record. With the wicket of James Bazley, Tye became the fastest player to grab 300 wickets in T20Is. He achieved this feat in 211 matches, eclipsing Rashid Khan, who captured it in 213 matches.
