Rajasthan Royals' fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has predicted that Riyan Parag will be the next big thing in Indian cricket in the shortest format.

Yagnik, who captained Rajasthan during his playing days, took to his Twitter handle and wrote,

"Remember my words: Riyan Parag will be next big thing in T20 format for India in coming years !!"

Notably, Parag had an incredible Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 campaign, as he finished the tournament as Assam's top-scorer, amassing 552 runs at an impressive average of 69 and an incredible strike rate of 123.21.

The swashbuckling right-hander can also roll his arms to chip in with a few overs and can, therefore, solve India's perennial problem of lacking such players in the lineup.

Despite being a gifted cricketer, Parag is yet to make his mark in the IPL. In 37 IPL innings, the 21-year-old has blown hot and cold, managing 522 runs with two fifties at a dismal average of 16.84.

However, Rajasthan Royals have shown trust in his abilities, retaining him prior to the mini-auction scheduled next month.
