After winning the toss, India opted to field first and bowled out the hosts for 259 in 45 overs. Hardik Pandya delivered a stellar performance with the ball, claiming a career-best 4/24.

India's chase of 260 runs started shakily, with the team at 72 for 4 at one stage. However, Rishabh Pant, the young Indian wicketkeeper-batter, played a match-defining innings, scoring an unbeaten 125 off 113 balls.

His innings was laced with 16 boundaries and 2 sixes. Pant's fearless batting saw him hit five consecutive fours off David Willey, leaving India just three runs to win in the 43rd over.

Pant's partnership with Hardik Pandya was crucial, as the pair put together 133 runs for the fifth wicket. Pant's unbeaten 125 ensured India won the match by five wickets with 47 balls to spare, securing the three-match ODI series 2-1.

His performance earned him the Player of the Match award and etched his name in cricketing history.

This innings marked Pant's first century in ODIs and placed him alongsid MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid in the elite list of Indian wicketkeepers with a hundred in an ODI chase.

Pant's score of 125* is the highest by an Indian wicketkeeper in a successful chase in a SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) nation, surpassing Dhoni's unbeaten 87 in Melbourne.
