Not being on West Indies tour was a good thing: Stuart Broad

England's premier long format pace bowler Stuart Broad has been at the helm of things pretty much from the start of the last decade where he has formed a lethal bowling partnership with legend James Anderson.
However, there was one moment in his career when he along with Anderson was dropped from the side on their previous West Indies tour which they lost by 1-nil.
Nonetheless, the right-armer feels that it was a career-saving moment for him as bowling on dead pitches in the Caribbean would have made a negative impact on his future chances.
"I don't think it was designed like that by the selectors but I count myself as pretty lucky. If I had gone there on those pitches I'm not sure I'd be here now. Arguably that decision saved my career. Looking back a year I would not have chosen to miss the Caribbean but it was a good thing that has happened for me,"
Further, he revealed how the decision turned out to be the right one as when both of them were left out due to Ashes drubbing and later, two defeats on the trot would have made things worse.
"I was the leading wicket-taker in the summer and if I'd have gone on the two tours I missed I would have ended up the leading wicket-taker in the world last year."
Stuart Broad will be seen playing in the first Test against the New Zealand side beginning on 16th February.
