BBL 2022-23: Strikers decimate Thunder to lowest-ever T20 score

The historical match took place at the Sydney Showground Stadium on Friday. Adelaide Strikers dismissed Sydney Thunder for the lowest-ever T20 score of 15 and won by 124 runs. 

In this process, it also became the lowest Big Bash League score of all time by surpassing Melbourne Renegades' 57 in 2015. 

Strikers posts a competitive total

Batting first, Strikers could not get off to a good start as they lost Matthew Short (9) and Jake Weatherland (10) early. Soon, Adam Hose was dismissed for 6 as well. 

It was an impressive 66-run stand between Chris Lynn (36 off 27) and Colin de Grandhomme (33 off 24), before both became a victim of Brendan Doggett.  In the end, Strikers could manage to score 139 in their designated quota of 20 overs. 

Fazalhaq Farooqi scalped three wickets, followed by Gurinder Sandhu, Daniel Sams and Doggett finishing with two scalps apiece. 

Thunder succumbs to a record low score 

In response to the chase, Alex Hales and Matthew Gikes could not open their account. The subsequent batters, Rilee Rossouw, skipper Jason Sangha and Alex Ross fell to the youngster Henry Thornton in a span of two overs. 

From the other end, proficient Wes Agar supported well to take wickets of Daniel Sams and Chris Green.  A shocking batting display from Thunder witnessed them losing wickets in a cluster, and getting all-out for 15. 

Thornton finished with five figures of 5/3 and Agar took 4/6, while keeper Harry Nielsen took a total of five catches.
