In a remarkable turn of events, promising keeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan smashed a mammoth knock in Tamil Nadu's sixth league stage match against Arunachal Pradesh in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022. In this process, the 26-year-old broke multiple long-standing records, scripting his name in the history books.
Notably, Jagadeesan slammed 277 runs off 141 balls and recorded the highest individual score by an Indian in List-A history, surpassing Rohit Sharma's 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. He also registered the highest List-A score ever, eclipsing Alistair Brown's 268 versus Glamorgan.
Highest individual score in List-A cricket
With this scintillating ton, Jagadeesan became the first-ever batter to score five centuries in a single season of the tournament (surpassing Virat Kohli's four centuries). He also recorded the most successive centuries in List-A history, eclipsing the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Alviro Petersen and Devdutt Padikkal.
Jagadeesan, who hammered 25 fours and 15 sixes during his breathtaking knock, stitched a massive 416-run stand with his opening partner Sai Sudharsan. Thus, the duo recorded the highest opening partnership in the history of List-A cricket.
With this stupendous knock, Jagadeesan has presented a strong case for his inclusion in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
Released by the Chennai Super Kings earlier this month, the keeper-batter looks all set to grab a million bucks in the mini-auction scheduled next month.
