On Friday, New Zealand will lock horns with India in the first T20I of the three-match series. In the absence of Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner is set to lead the BlackCaps in this series.

Ahead of the first match in Ranchi, Santner revealed his similarity with the legendary MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming, as he seemed determined to reflect their calm and composed demeanour in his captaincy.

The experienced all-rounder also expected his troops to capitalise on their ODI experience to put an improved show in the T20Is.

Here's what Santner said

"If you look at both of them (Dhoni and Fleming), they're both very calm and very level-headed, which I like as I feel I'm similar in that respect. To work under and alongside MS (Dhoni) has been a pretty cool experience for a few years now,

"I guess trying to bank those experiences from that series. Yes, we obviously lost 3-0, but we showed glimpses in games that we want to take forward in this series."

Being one of the senior members in the team, Santner will play a crucial role for the visitors in the series.

He did decently with both bat and ball in the ODIs, scoring 118 runs and scalping two wickets across three appearances.
