The Brabourne Stadium is all set to witness an electrifying encounter between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) final on March 26. As the excitement builds, Delhi captain Meg Lanning shared her thoughts on the daunting task ahead and acknowledged the enormity of the challenge.
During the pre-match press conference held at Brabourne Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Lanning expressed her excitement for the WPL Final, acknowledging that both teams have been consistent throughout the tournament.
“I am looking forward to taking on a really good team, they played some really good cricket last night,” said Lanning.
The Australian captain acknowledged that Mumbai Indians are a dangerous team with several great players, which poses a significant challenge for Delhi Capitals, nevertheless, she expressed confidence in her team.
“We know how dangerous they can be, they have got some great players. It is a massive challenge for Delhi, but we are confident as well,” the opening batter added.
Lanning further emphasized the importance of having fun and enjoying the experience, urging her team to play with smiles on their faces in the upcoming match.
“We have played with smiles on our faces and that is what I will be encouraging our girls to do tomorrow night, enjoy the experience and embrace it ,” stated the 31-year-old.
Regarding the young Indian prodigy Shafali Verma, Lanning praised her unique style of play and expressed the hope that Verma will be able to perform at her best and take the game on with a clear mind.
“Hopefully she comes in with a clear mind and is ready to take the game on and I can watch from the other end,” concluded Lanning.
