In a major boost for the home team, pacer Matt Henry is set to join the New Zealand squad for the second Test match against England.

Moreover, Kyle Jamieson will also miss the entire home season due to a back injury, confirms coach Gary Stead.

Henry missed the first Test at Bay Oval to remain in Christchurch for the birth of his first child. New Zealand were blown away by Ben Stokes and company as the visitors thrashed the Kiwis by a whopping 267 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Black Caps certainly missed the services of Henry, as they lacked a cutting edge in bowling department in the opening Test.

Talking about Jamieson, Stead stated that the lanky pacer will also miss the home series against Sri Lanka, after undergoing surgery on his stress fracture.

Spinner Ish Sodhi, and uncapped pacer Jacob Duffy have been released from the squad, and will return to their Associations ahead of the Plunket Shield matches.

Matt Henry has played 18 Test matches for New Zealand, and has picked up 55 wickets.

The second Test match between New Zealand and England will start from February 24 in Wellington.
