I've Made Many Mistakes as Captain - Virat Kohli Reflects Limitation in Tenure

Nothing Virat Kohli does is ordinary. From taking on the best bowlers in the world or calling out things hampering his mental space, Kohli has never been shy of anything. Even when the former Indian captain left his reigns, it became a national issue, which led to a debate. And now, the RCB batter has reflected on how he looks at his tenure as a leader.
As a captain, the 33-year-old led India in 213 matches across all formats, winning 135 games. Meanwhile, as RCB's leader, he has bagged 66 wins - the fourth most by any captain - after 143 matches. However, his captaincy has repeatedly come under scrutiny due to India's topsy-turvy performance under Kohli.
Meanwhile, the former Indian skipper confessed he made mistakes during his captaincy days but also stated he didn't do anything to achieve any selfish motives. He further said his only goal was to take Indian cricket forward.
"I have no shame in accepting that I have made many mistakes when I was captain but the one thing I know for sure that I never did anything for my own selfish motives. My only goal was to take the team forward, failures will keep happening but the intent was never in the wrong place," Kohli said in an interview on Disney+ Hotstar.
Kohli left the T20I captaincy after India got knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2021, getting the beating from Pakistan and New Zealand. A couple of months later, the ODI captaincy was also snatched out of Kohli's hands before he let go of the Test leadership in South Africa.
At the moment, the maestro batter is playing for Bangalore just as a player in IPL 2023; however, he led them in the tournament without Faf du Plessis. RCB are in a do-or-die position, as they need to win all their remaining games to qualify for the playoff.
