Irfan Pathan figures out the elephant in the room for India ahead of ODI World Cup

On Saturday, hosts India decimated New Zealand in the second ODI in Raipur to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

On a track having decent assistance, Indian seamers ran riot to bundle out the Kiwis for a paltry 108. After that, skipper Rohit Sharma's batting assault ensured India chased the target without breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan thinks the Indian pacers must evolve themselves and try to be equally effective on placid decks.

While praising Indian bowlers for their clinical effort in Raipur, Pathan also reminded their notable recent struggles on flat pitches, which proved costly for the Men in Blue in World Cups.

Here's what Pathan stated

"Just pay attention to the bowling. It is extremely important that what combination are you going to play, which bowlers are you going to give chances to who can make the pitch immaterial? The biggest problem is that our bowling looks slightly weak in terms of sharpness on flat pitches,

"That's what we have seen, especially in the last two T20 World Cups against Pakistan as well as against England in the semi-finals, our bowling definitely lacked teeth. This is what I personally want to see going forward - have bowlers who have the special skill either in the form of pace or variation."

The third and final ODI between India and New Zealand is scheduled in Indore on Tuesday.
