IPL 2023: 'Rajasthan's Finisher' Riyan Parag  Hails MS Dhoni as the Greatest

Regarded as one of the greatest-ever white-ball and Indian Premier League (IPL) captains, MS Dhoni will step onto the field against Gujarat Titans on Friday to begin yet another memorable chapter for the Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni, despite being retired, remains one of the most cherished and popular stars in Indian cricket.

Dhoni, apart from being an astute leader, is often hailed as a great finisher, who guided India and CSK past the finish line innumerable times with ease. 

Speaking ahead of the start of IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals' player and self-confessed Dhoni fan, Riyag Parag reiterated that the wicketkeeper-batter is the best finisher ever.

Parag has donned the role of a finisher with the Royals' side in the past few years. The Assam-born player had a forgetful IPL 2022, scoring just 183 runs in 17 matches. 

Speaking to PTI, the 21-year-old further stated that he is open to batting at any position as per the team's needs.

Here's what Parag said

"I have been doing the finishing role for the last three years now. There is just one name that comes to my mind which I also have said before, MS Dhoni. I do not think anyone else has mastered that art. Going into that role, I always look up to him, how he finishes games or how he takes the game deep."

Led by Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan-based club will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their tournament opener on April 2.
