In a massive blow ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Punjab Kings are set to miss the services of England all-rounder Liam Livingstone for the initial few matches.

As reported by RevSports, Livingstone will miss Punjab's opening match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 1 and is a doubtful starter in their second outing as well. He has been out injured since England's Test series against Pakistan.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led side will face Livingstone's former IPL side Rajasthan Royals on April 5 in Guwahati.

Livingstone's England teammate Jonny Bairstow was earlier ruled out of IPL 2023, who is yet to recover from his limb injury. Apart from Livingstone, South African speedster Kagiso Rabada will also miss Punjab's opening-round match against KKR.

Radaba will feature for the Proteas in their two-ODI series against the Netherlands, which is part of the CWC Super League.

Thankfully, IPL's costliest player Sam Curran arrived in Mohali on Monday and will take part in the match on Saturday.

Other overseas players in the Kings squad are Sri Lanka's Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza, and Australia's Nathan Ellis.

The IPL gets underway on March 31 with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad.
