Narendra Modi Stadium will host IPL 2023 opening ceremony
With just 48 hours away from the start of the much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the Narendra Modi Stadium is undergoing its final touches to welcome fans and players for the opening ceremony on Friday ahead of the marquee clash between defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
As per several reports, stars from the entertainment industry like Katrina Kaif, Rashmika Mandanna, Janhvi Kapoor, Tamannah Bhatia, and Arijit Singh might perform in front of a jam-packed stadium.
The organisers are already rehearsing their light show and etching out the finer details, as seen in a video shared on social media, to avoid any last-minute hassles.
The live broadcast of the ceremony will be aired on Star Sports on TV, while Jio Cinema will provide digital streaming.
Once the festivities are over, the stadium will turn into a battlefield where Hardik Pandya-led GT and MS Dhoni-captained CSK will lock horns against each other. This is the first time since the pandemic that the IPL will resume the home-and-away format.
To make this edition of the IPL exciting, the governing body has decided to introduce new rules this season, which include the use of DRS to check for No-balls/Wides, the introduction of an Impact Player, and naming the XI post the toss.
