I'd pick Kuldeep Yadav in India's World Cup 2023 squad ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal: Sunil Joshi

Kuldeep Yadav has gained his form and reputation back in international cricket after his recent success in Test, and respective white-ball series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

This once again has opened the debate about India fielding both Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal together or not. The highly-successful pair were broken after the 2019-20 season, and several spinners have since chanced their arm out in international cricket for India.

Former India spinner Sunil Joshi has praised Yadav for making improvements in his game, which includes working on the non-bowling arm, and his run-up lately.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the left-arm spinner said that he would pick Yadav in the Indian squad ahead of Chahal for World Cup 2023.

"Of course [On playing Kuldeep]. No. Given the options I have at this point in time, Jadeja will be in my squad. If he is not in good rhythm, you have a back-up in Axar.

"Then probably I would look at Washy [Washington Sundar] or Ravi Bishnoi, if I have to have one more legspinner, because Bishnoi is more consistent and has a quicker arm action and he's a better fielder than Chahal."

Joshi also explained Chahal's drawbacks in bowling lately, where the leg-spinner is becoming more predictable, and urged him to play domestic cricket more often to find form.

Both Yadav and Chahal will be in action tomorrow in the third T20I between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
