The former English cricketer Ian Salisbury has been sacked as Sussex coach in the first-class and List-A format. The veteran has not taken the charge of the team since mid-August and it is revealed that he has been put on gardening leave by the Sussex management.
Salisbury came under the scanner for his treatment of 21-year-old spinner Jack Carson. The youngster made his debut for Sussex two years during the Bob Willis Trophy 2020. Carson made an impact immediately as he ended up as the top wicket-taker for the club.
The spinner continued his good form in the 2021 edition of the County Championship as well as he was again the highest wicket-taker for Sussex. However, the first half of the 2022 edition of the County Championship saw Carson warming the bench due to a knee injury.
The young rookie made a comeback to the team in August only when Salisbury was removed from his post as the coach. It is revealed that there was a non-cricketing dispute between the coach and Carson. The club is all set to set up an inquiry and take appropriate action.
