India women defeated West Indies women by 6 wickets in the T20 World Cup game on Wednesday.

West Indies opted to bat first and lost the early wicket of Hayley Matthews. There was a short partnership between Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle, but it was the magic of Deepti Sharma that did wonders for the Indian side.

She bowled at tight lines and lengths and fetched the reward for it. Her twin strike changed the complexion of the game, and West Indies lost the momentum fron there on. Deepti Sharma broke the partnership with the scalp of Campbelle, and she struck once again, dismissing Taylor to wide open the contest.

She came back to haunt the Windies once again to get rid off Afy Fletcher in the last over of the innings, and restricted them to a paltry 118.

Despite the early hiccups, India rallied past the winning line, courtesy of a stellar contribution from Richa Ghosh 44* (32).

Deepti Sharma became the first Indian ever to pick 100 T20I wickets, and she was jubilant at the post-match presentation.

"I really feel good. I had certain plans for the Windies and applied those. 100 wickets in T20Is is a milestone and I am happy about that. But I'm focusing on the World Cup. The wicket here is slightly turning and that has helped me a lot. I just focused on bowling stumps to stumps and again that helped me a lot."

India will next play against a resurgent England women on February 18.
