India made merry in the ninth match of the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup as their semi-final berth is almost confirmed after a six-wicket win versus the West Indies.

Deepti cleans house

After opting to bat first, the West Indies were put into hot water right away as Pooja Vastrakar caused Hayley Matthews' downfall in her first over.

While Stafanie Taylor and Shemaine Campbelle had written a perfect script for the Windies' comeback, Deepti Sharma became the bane of their 73-run partnership as the offie booted out both the batters in the 14th over.

As Deepti took her third scalp in the match, she also completed a century of T20I wickets.

The Windies, who for the better part of their innings batted at a run-rate of six, could never fly high, finishing at 118-6 in 20 overs.

Richa shines as win falls into India's lap

With India tottering at 43/3 in the eighth over, alarm bells started to ring as West Indies' Karishma Ramharack and Matthews brought their side back in the match.

Although it seemed as if Matthews and Co. could well pull off an upset, Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh denied them any other opportunity till the 17th over as their 72-run stand had India celebrating their second win of the tournament.

Ghosh top-scored for India, smashing 44 runs off 32 deliveries.
