Virat Kohli helped India secure a memorable win over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 match on Sunday. The 33-year-old scored an unbeaten 82 runs to guide his side home in a thrilling encounter between the two arch-rivals.

Kohli managed to get over his slump during the Asia Cup 2022 earlier this year and he was heavily criticised by the media and the fans prior to that. Having failed to score a century since 2019, there were questions raised over his selection in the Asia Cup. However, Kohli silenced his critics with the bat in the ICC event and he scored his 71st century against Afghanistan.

Kohli's purple patch continued in the T20 World Cup as well as he started the tournament with one of the finest innings of his career against Pakistan.

Former Australian fast bowler and cricketing legend Brett Lee has now revealed (h/t News18) that he found it amusing when the critics questioned Kohli's credentials. He added that the Indian star is a legend of the game and slumps are a part of the game. Kohli's ability was never in doubt and he was always going to bounce back strongly.

“I found it quite amusing when someone of the calibre of Virat Kohli was attacked. Those who had attacked Kohli didn’t have a look at his records and his performances in the three formats of the game.

“There are times when you don’t get hundreds or you don’t get fifties. That’s all part of professional sport. What I do know is Virat Kohli is a legend of the game and it’s very hard to keep these guys down for too long."

The 33-year-old seems like he is back to his best now and he will be hoping to guide his country to a World Cup win in Australia.
