How Nayar helped Rohit [Source: @CricketTimesHQ/x.com]
Rohit Sharma started the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with strings of low scores and it was widely expected that this season, the former Mumbai Indians captain will be a flop show. However, in the last couple of matches there has been a late resurgence and perhaps the credit should be given to a man who was recently sacked by BCCI - Abhishek Nayar.
The former India batting coach was removed from his position a few days ago, but behind the scenes he was closely working with Rohit Sharma prior and during the ongoing IPL season.
How Nayar shaped Rohit's comeback
As per a report by Cricbuzz, Rohit and Nayar have been collaborating for a while with the former batting coach working closely with Rohit to improve his batting. In-fact, prior to Rohit's quick-fire knock of 26 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the MI batter was spotted practising with Nayar at Mumbai's BKC facility.
Rohit wants to play the 2027 World Cup and as per sources, he is working hard on his fitness and Nayar is helping him out in it.
Nayar's training perhaps did the magic as on Sunday, Rohit was back to his best against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the batter remained unbeaten and smashed 76 winning runs to keep MI's playoff dreams alive.
Rohit's Instagram story for Nayar
After his whirlwind knock against CSK, Rohit, on Monday posted a story for Nayar, thanking him for helping him out. Recently, Nayar was released by BCCI after India's lacklustre outing against Australia, but it seems that the India skipper had a great time working with Nayar and his Instagram post for the newly appointed KKR assistant coach tells us about the bond they share.
