In a breathtaking display of power-hitting, Punjab Kings (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter, Jitesh Sharma, unleashed an unbeaten 49 off 27 balls in his side’s highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday.

The dynamic batter's impressive performance earned him high praise from PBKS assistant coach Brad Haddin, who hailed Jitesh's remarkable abilities.

The Australian revealed that the PBKS coaching staff decided to promote Jitesh up the order and give him more opportunities to face the ball, a move that proved successful.

"He’s [Jitesh] developing nicely. He has gained a lot of confidence as the tournament has gone on and that is reflected in the way we used him tonight. He played really well in the previous games but only faced 10 balls and tonight we wanted him to go up the order and give him the opportunity to face more balls," said Haddin.

The erstwhile wicket-keeper batsman further emphasized that Jitesh possesses a fearless attitude towards the game and a unique ability to hit from the first ball.

The PBKS assistant coach confidently predicted that the 29-year-old would produce more of these remarkable innings in the future as he continues to mature and develop his game.

Jitesh has been in staggering form throughout the IPL 2023, having smashed 239 runs in 10 matches at an incredible strike rate of 165.97.

Alongside Liam Livingstone's impressive 42-ball 82, Jitesh played a pivotal role in PBKS achieving an astounding total of 214. However, MI managed to chase the target with ease in 18.5 overs, thanks to astounding knocks from Suryakumar Yadav (66 off 31) and Ishan Kishan (75 off 41).
