In the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting from Friday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team will aim to finally win the championship title that has eluded them so far. RCB is scheduled to begin their campaign on Sunday against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Their pursuit of the coveted IPL trophy will greatly depend on the performance of their star batsman and former captain Virat Kohli. Kohli, who is a key member of the Bangalore squad, is determined to help his team end their title drought this season.

To commemorate Virat Kohli's 15-year association with the Bangalore team, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of IPL, has brought together several former cricketers to celebrate the occasion. They have also released a video on YouTube, where ex-cricketers share their memorable experiences with Kohli.

One of the former Indian all-rounders, Sanjay Bangar, talks about Kohli's grit and determination, citing an incident where he walked out to bat with a hand injury that required stitches. Despite the injury, Kohli went on to score a century, as recalled by Bangar.

“I remember a match, probably that was against Kings XI Punjab, where he played with stitches in hand and got a 100 in 15-over match. That is phenomenal,” recalled Bangar.

Bangar is referring to a particular match that took place in 2016, which was Virat Kohli's best performance in all 15 editions of the IPL. During that season, Kohli scored a remarkable 973 runs from 16 innings with an impressive average of 81.08.

The match in question was affected by rain and saw RCB batting first, managing to score an outstanding 211/3 in just 15 overs. Chris Gayle and Kohli led the charge for RCB, with the pair putting up a massive 147-run partnership for the opening wicket.

Kohli scored a sensational 113 runs off just 50 deliveries before being dismissed by Sandeep Sharma. Despite this, RCB won the match by 82 runs.
