In a bold move from South Africa national side, they are set to appoint former all-rounder JP Duminy as their batting coach.

Duminy, has apparently left his position as the head coach of Paarl Rocks to join the national team. Recently, South Africa have went ahead with the split coaching way, with Rob Walter appointed as the ODI team coach, and Shukri Conrad taking charge of the red ball side.

Now with Duminy likely to be appointed the batting coach of the Proteas team, the team management have taken steps in the right direction.

The 38-year-old led Paarl Royals to the semi-finals of the inaugural SA20 League, and is currently in the first season in-charge of the Rocks in the South African domestic setup.

Previously, he has been the batting consultant of the Lions' domestic team, and was also in the Proteas dressing room during the 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE, as a specialist consultant.

During his first stint with the Proteas squad, Duminy received positive reviews from the players, and is expected to transfer his knowledge and wisdom to the younger South Africa players.

He will replace Justin Sammons, who was the batting coach of the South African side.

Duminy has played 199 ODIs, 81 T20Is, and 46 Tests for South Africa.
