After an incredible inaugural season of the SA20 league that happened in South Africa, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has gained a massive amount which could help them recover from financial losses faced previously.

One thing that greatly worked in their favour is that all six teams were bought by IPL franchises as it helped them to run the tournament with his ease. Now, the captain of the semi-finalists Joburg Super Kings Faf du Plessis stated that he keeps this league right behind the cash-rich IPL.

Further, the former Proteas skipper mentioned that he never expected himself to play in the country of his birth again but this tournament brought him back and along with that, it created an extremely positive impact on the minds of the people.

“I’ve played in all the T20 leagues around the world and I’m very happy to say that the SA20 is right up there behind the IPL. This tournament has surprised a lot of people, but if you look at the pedigree of the players, with a great list of internationals participating, it means the standard of competition has been really high,"

“The IPL ownership has also had a hugely positive impact because it comes with a lot of know-how and professionalism in terms of running a big tournament like this. Personally, I never thought I’d play cricket in South Africa again, so I’ve loved it. It’s been amazing to see big crowds at domestic cricket again.”

Du Plessis was a revelation in the league as he finished the tournament as the second-highest run-getter with 369 runs just below Paarl Royals' Jos Buttler.
