England cricket team's fan assembly, known as the "The Barmy Army" never fails to make headlines. Whenever England graces the field, they engage in playful banter with the opposition. While many of their humorous remarks are met with laughter, there have been times when their jokes have rubbed fans the wrong way.

They were at it again on Saturday, the 2nd day of the ongoing Test between England and Australia. To celebrate Moeen Ali bowling his first over of the match, the Barmy Army took to Twitter. They shared a tweet featuring a GIF of Moeen Ali dismissing former India captain Virat Kohli in a Test match, along with the caption, "Mo returns with the red ball in hand".

Notably, Moeen Ali came out of Test retirement to play in the Ashes this year after Jack Leach was ruled out of the five-match Test series due to a lower stress fracture. He made an immediate impact by taking two wickets, dismissing the big fishes Travis Head and Cameron Green, during his 29-over spell on the second day.

The tweet, however, didn't sit well with Indian fans, who lashed out at the Barmy Army for their out-of-context post targeting the former Indian captain.

The GIF belongs to the second Test of England's tour of India in 2021, held at the Chepauk Stadium. During the match, Moeen Ali dismissed then Indian captain Virat Kohli on a five-ball duck.

Rohit Sharma's breathtaking knock of 161 runs helped India reach a total of 329 in the first innings. In reply, England suffered a massive collapsed and were bundled out for just 134 runs.

In their second innings, India was boosted by Ravichandran Ashwin's century, setting a challenging target of 482 runs for England.

However, the visitors struggled and were eventually bowled out for a mere 164 runs, resulting in a convincing 317-run victory for India.
