It was the day of jubilation and homecoming for the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli who played one of his finest Indian Premier League (IPL) knocks to down Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets in front of a packed Chinnaswamy stadium.

Chasing 172 for victory, RCB finished the match within 17 overs courtesy of captain fantastic Faf du Plessis and Kohli who stitched an outstanding 148 runs partnership for the first wicket.

After the game, Kohli said they were able to reduce the pressure on themselves after his and Faf's early blitz which helped them get off to a good start.

Moreover, according to him, the kind of support and intensity of the crowd especially on this ground is something that has been a huge motivator for him and the team.

"The way they batted in the last two overs, was brilliant. Me and Faf hit some decent areas and kept putting pressure on their bowlers which was crucial. In a way we nullified them with our initial approach. It was a packed crowd and every seat was full when we were there. We knew we would get a support like this. The intensity of the crowd propels us to do well,"

Later, Kohli made a point regarding the fact that RCB have qualified for the playoffs eight times which keeps them in third position in the league after Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they have won the titles five and four times, respectively.

"Look, I wanted to mention it. Apart from Mumbai winning it five times and Chennai winning it four times, we are the third team who have played the playoffs eight times. We try to be the best-balanced side in the tournament. We need to keep building on the momentum and need to execute the plans going forward."

After this incredible performance, Virat will next don the jersey for RCB when they take on Kolkata Knight Riders on the 6th of April.
