'Don't Think Anyone Can Cope with...': James Anderson 'Warns' Australia

The gloves have come off and the verbal battles have started as 'The Ashes 2023' nears. The five-Test series will see arch-rivals England and Australia clash against each other, this time on English shores, where the visitors will hope to defend the urn. England's leading wicket-taker ahead of the Ashes has already taken a jibe at Australia, saying that they won't be able to cope with the home side if they play their best.

Anderson is currently nursing a groin injury, that the bowler picked up during Lancashire's County Championship match. The 40-year-old who is being picked for the one-off Ireland Test, will most likely give the encounter a miss, and be ready for the first Test against Australia on June 16 at Edgbaston.

As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Anderson further stated that his participation in the series might be limited to four Tests, given the short duration between matches.

Here's what Anderson said

"If you look at our team, if we play to the best of our ability with that mindset, I don't think anyone can cope with us. So yes, I think we can win.

I feel like if we can keep the same mentality and the same sort of feeling in the dressing room we've had. It's fairly relaxed, we're trying to enjoy ourselves, we're trying to entertain people, take the positive option."

Under new coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, England's Test side has looked aggressive, and fearless. The duo boasts of an envious record of winning 10 out of their last 12 Tests.

This will be Anderson's 10 Ashes series, and will hope to reclaim the urn for the first time since 2015.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will most likely name the Three Lions squad for the series after the one-off Test against Ireland.
