  • Dodda Ganesh Hits Back At Former Selector For Picking Sky Over Pujara For Nagpur Test

Dodda Ganesh hits back at Sunil Joshi for picking Suryakumar Yadav over Cheteshwar Pujara

The absence of Shreyas Iyer has opened up a selection dilemma for the Indian cricket team. Several players like Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Shubman Gill are in contention for a spot in the XI for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Former players like Ravi Shastri and Sanjay Manjrekar have backed Yadav to play in the first Test. However, former selector and player Sunil Joshi picked Yadav ahead of Cheteshwar Pujara for the Nagpur Test, which invited criticism from former India pacer Dodda Ganesh.

Ganesh, in his straightforward manner, without naming anyone directly, called the decision to play SKY over Pujara audacious.

Here's what Ganesh tweeted

"One of the ex-selectors wants Surya to be chosen ahead of Pujara for tests. Let that sink in. I mean, the audacity to even think that one can replace Pujara with someone who's yet to play a Test, boggles my mind. No wonder poor Pujara has been a scapegoat all his life #BGT2023,"

Here's what Joshi tweeted

"Will India line up like this in the first test? Deliberation between Pujara & Surya,a tough draw between both lefties Kuldeep &Axar."

Pujara has been India's mainstay in batting over the past few years, with Virat Kohli's red-ball form on the downfall.

The first of the four Tests will begin tomorrow at Nagpur.
