Every cricketer has their eyes set on the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. Former South African player JP Duminy, who is coaching in the ongoing SA20 2023 competition, spoke about India handing Surya Kumar Yadav a Test debut.

According to India Today, the Paarl Royals coach said that Yadav is an exciting talent and India should look at him if they want to play attacking cricket in the series.

Yadav is facing stiff competition from the likes of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan for a slot in the playing XI.

In 79 First-Class matches, the Mumbai-born has scored 5,549 runs at an average of 44.75 and has 14 centuries and 28 fifties.

Here's what Duminy said

"Suryakumar Yadav is probably one of the most exciting players in India now. I think, from there Test cricket is going, you know, as a team, you need to decide what is the sort of brand of cricket that you want to play.

If it is going to be the kind of attacking mindset, I think he sort of becomes an option. So, I think from a fan-base perspective, there would certainly be interest there,"

The former Mumbai Indians player also praised Gill and expected him to be a regular in all three formats for India in the future.

The first Test gets underway tomorrow at Nagpur.
